Discover how you can get involved!

Buffalo Niagara Heritage Village offers fulfilling volunteer experiences for all ages and interests. We frequently work with seniors, corporate groups, scouts, and students.

Volunteer opportunities are available in the areas listed below. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please fill out our Volunteer Application and forward it to volunteers@bnhv.org. Our Volunteer Department will be in touch as soon as possible to discuss your interests.

Museum Store volunteers handle transactions, assist customers with choosing merchandise, create rotating merchandise displays, and assist the Guest Services Coordinator in highlighting seasonal products. Volunteers must be available on Saturdays.

Research Library volunteers assist with research appointments to the Niederlander Research Library. Volunteers, under the supervision of the Director of Collections, help to fulfill research requests, monitor all appointments, and perform other duties as needed.

Farmstead and Gardens volunteers help to ensure that our Heritage Village and various gardens are properly cared for throughout the Village Season. Volunteers assist with weeding, watering, planting, tilling, and any other projects necessary on our grounds.

Village Preservation volunteers make sure the buildings in our Historic Village are maintained throughout the Village Season. Volunteers assist with cleaning, tidying, and light preservation work. All volunteers must go through an orientation and training prior to start.

Facilities volunteers help keep BNHV grounds looking their best. Volunteers assist with painting projects, mending fences, constructing animal shelters, and more. Volunteers work primarily outside, and must be able to lift at least 25 lbs.
